A Plea to Save Essential Health Care

Abstract

|
The Korean healthcare system is facing a crisis as local medical care, including essential healthcare, is at risk ofcollapse. This commentary argues that bold action from the medical community and the government is urgentlyneeded to save the system and that ad hoc measures will not suffice. It is time for the medical community to reflecton their professionalism from the perspective of the people and for the government to listen to the voices of medicalpersonnel and reexamine the Korean medical system as a whole.
